No. You do not need a Portuguese residence permit or a Número de Utente to consult our doctors. All our doctors hold valid Portuguese licenses with the Ordem dos Médicos and can issue official prescriptions and medical referrals using your passport or residence documents.

Yes. A doctor will review your medical history and previous prescriptions and, when medically appropriate, issue an official Portuguese electronic prescription (with an SMS code) for the required medication or its equivalent available in Europe. The prescription can be used at pharmacies throughout Portugal.

Yes. Prescriptions and referrals issued by Novodoc can be used at medical laboratories and private healthcare providers in Portugal, including major networks such as Joaquim Chaves, Germano de Sousa, Unilabs, Synlab and others.

With the Family Health Concierge and Private Office Concierge memberships, your personal medical assistant can help you find a trusted specialist at a private clinic, choose a convenient appointment time and arrange the booking. Our general practitioner can also review your medical records and prepare a clear medical summary in Portuguese or English, including key questions to discuss with the specialist.

For eligible consultations and services, Novodoc provides an official invoice or receipt (Fatura/Recibo) with the relevant medical information. You can submit it to your private health insurance provider in Portugal, such as MÉDIS, Multicare or Tranquilidade, to request reimbursement (Reembolso), subject to the terms of your insurance policy.

Yes. The Family Health Concierge is designed to support the whole family. We can issue official medical certificates for schools, kindergartens, sports activities and driving licence applications (Atestado Médico), as well as provide guidance on Portugal's national vaccination schedule.
